Xeno Artist Model “Chicago” C Trumpet (YTR-9445CHSII)
Developed with John Hagstrom of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago series focuses on achieving the ideal blowing resistance and weight balance creating an instrument that is not just easy to play, but also provides delicate response when playing pianissimo and powerful presence when playing fortissimo. Every component of the instrument contains the input of artists from around the world, allowing us to create a highly evolved Chicago trumpet.
New bell design
The newly designed bell is narrower toward the pistons and a squared-corner U-shaped crook provides the performer with an ideal blowing resistance. This results in a richer sound with a strong tonal core that improves upper register playability. The wall thickness gradually tapers, thinning as it gets closer to the rim. The flat rim helps hold sound together even at extreme dynamic ranges.
Featuring a Malone Pipe™ (MC1) leadpipe and a shallower mouthpiece receiver for improved tone and response while providing the performer with an ideal blowing resistance. Based on leadpipes designed by renowned brass instrument artisan Bob Malone, the Malone Pipe has quick response, superior intonation and unparalleled evenness of tone. The Malone Pipe brings rich and brilliant tone with excellent projection total for beautiful musical expression.
Improved response and ideal blowing resistance
The lighter weight pistons and valve casing, a semi-square crook shaped tuning slide and water key spring, result in improved response and provide the performer with an ideal blowing resistance.
The first valve slide
The first valve slide features a special brace providing a stronger focus to the core of the tone with unparalleled definition and clarity.
The 3rd valve slide stopper
The 3rd valve slide stopper has been moved to allow extended slide play for a low F or to facilitate alternative fingerings. The oversized button on the end of the slide is designed to fine-tune the blowing resistance for improved control.
The slide stopper is used to prevent the trumpet slides from coming off the instrument. The slide stopper is made of silicone rubber, which does not discolor the instruments finish like regular rubber does. It can be left in place while playing. (Length: 12 cm)
Xeno Artist Model “Chicago” Bb Trumpet (YTR-9335CHSII)
The Bb Chicago model has the same features as the C model with these slight differences:
Design and materials have been refined to ensure the most musical response from the instrument’s tubing. The weight distribution of the water key arm and the saddle has been updated to improve playability and response while enhancing high resister accessibility.
Balance has been improved by modifying the shape of the brace, achieving quick response with a brilliant, well-centered tone.
The distance between the mouthpiece receiver and brace on the YTR-9335CHS and YTR-9445CHS are similar so that consistent playability is achieved when switching between Bb and C trumpets.
Xeno Artist Model “New York” Bb Trumpet (YTR-9335NYSII)
Trumpet tone criteria are constantly changing. In the pursuit of further evolution Yamaha teamed up with David Bilger, principal trumpet with The Philadelphia Orchestra. Micron-level refinement with Mr. Bilger has resulted in a truly refined instrument for serious players.
The area where the bell meets the valves has been redesigned for optimum playing resistance and brilliant, distinctive tone. High note playability has been significantly improves as well. The bell has a bottom seam that results in ideal balance with the new thinner valve casing and pistons.

Valve casing and Pistons
Thinner valve casing and pistons and the modified angle of the branch tube result in improved response and provide the performer with an ideal appropriate resistance. Modifications to the shapes of the piston button, top cap, and bottom cap, as well as production refinements, have made it possible to deliver a deeper tone while improving projection.
Main tuning slide and brace
A conventional square crook is used (the Chicago model has a semi-square crook), while the main tuning brace has been extended and made heavier to achieve ideal blowing resistance and vivid tonality for brilliant presence in orchestral settings.
The weight distribution of the water key arm and bridle has been revised for more playing versatility and easier access to the high notes.
The shape and position of the bell braces has been modified to achieve better weight balance that results in speedier response and livelier tone with a solid tonal core.
The slide stopper is designed to prevent the trumpet slide from falling off. The slide stopper is made of silicone rubber, which will not harm the finish. Providing both strength and elasticity, it can remain attached to the instrument during performance. (Length: 12 cm)
