Indy Flute Shop – Looking Ahead

It’s that time of year! You’re most likely in band camp season, memorizing your music, learning your drill charts, and preparing for the school year to start. Since you are about to get into the busyness of the season, I want to put some things on your radar to start planning for. And don’t worry, I will post updates as I hear about more events!

Attending flute events and even entering flute competitions can be EXTREMELY beneficial for your musical journey. It is literally an entire evening, day, or multiple days of all things flute related. You get to learn from experts, meet other flutists, and dive deep into the flute world. You don’t normally do this kind of thing in band class. If you’d like to elevate your playing and knowledge of the flute, I highly recommend you check these out!

She has performed as soloist with several orchestras and is also known for her engaging online presence. For more information about Jasmine Choi, please visit jasminechoi.com

Flute Society of Kentucky’s 2026 Flute Festival

They have already made the announcement! The 2026 Festival will be featuring Guest Artist, George Pope. George Pope is the Emeritus Professor of Flute at The University of Akron, was Instructor of Flute at The Baldwin Wallace Conservatory from 2002-2023 and was Principal Flute of the Akron Symphony from 1978-2002. For our Indiana and Kentucky flutists, take this opportunity to learn from him and go to this festival!

Flute Competitions
Be on the lookout for 2026 flute competition announcements. I will share them with you all as I see them! Most flute festivals will host competitions for all ages. Some of them have required pieces of music, and others have general requirements. This could be a good opportunity to use what you play for ISSMA Solo & Ensemble for a competition as well!
