Mark Buselli and Freddie Mendoza Clinic at Paige’s Music
Are you a jazz musician who has ever wanted to play alongside, and learn from, some of the greats? Or do you just have a passing interest in how jazz music works? If you’re either of these, or anything in between, you definitely won’t want to miss our clinic on Thursday, November 3, at 7 p.m., where we welcome two stellar jazz performers and educators, Mark Buselli and Freddie Mendoza!
Mark Buselli is Director of Jazz Studies at Ball State University. Buselli has over forty arrangements published for big bands, brass ensemble, and piano/trumpet. He has performed with artists such as Bobby McFerrin, Slide Hampton, Jimmy Heath, Slam Stewart to Natalie Cole, The Four Tops, and more. Mr. Buselli graduated from Berklee School of Music in Boston and received his MM in jazz studies from Indiana University. While at Indiana he was awarded a Performers Certificate. He is a Yamaha Performing Artist and the director of the jazz track for the Music For All Summer Symposium.
Freddie Mendoza has distinguished himself as one of the leading instrumentalist and educators on the jazz scene today. With over 40 studio recordings under his belt, he has performed across the United States and abroad, sharing the stage with many of jazz music’s greats, including Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Marvin Stamm, Clark Terry, and Harry Connick, Jr. to name a few. Freddie is in demand across the nation as a clinician and holds a Bachelors of Music Performance from University of Texas at Austin, Masters of Music in Composition at Southwest Texas State University and is currently ABD in Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University New York, New York. Freddie is an artist with Getzen Custom Series Trombones.
Buselli and Mendoza will be at Paige’s Music on November 3 (joined by special guests from Ball State) to present a “double” clinic about the fundamentals of jazz improvisation. You’ll learn new improv techniques from both of these legendary musicians AND get a chance to put your newfound knowledge to the test first-hand in a performance setting. It’s a combination clinic-masterclass-jam-session that’s sure to bring the house down.
Playing slots will be limited, so be sure to register by clicking here. You can also just RSVP to attend if you’d prefer to sit back and soak up the music.
See you there!
