TRANSCRIPT:

Welcome to our final installment of Paige’s of History. The last 15 years have been filled with exciting developments at Paige’s Music—we will highlight some of those moments amongst contemporary history.

In 2006, Paige’s Music made two big investments based on the needs of central Indiana Music educators: opening the award winning Chops Percussion and Encore Orchestral Strings. This allows Paige’s Music to serve serious percussion and orchestral students and educators.

In 2008, Drum Corps International moved its world championships to Indianapolis where they are contracted to be hosted for years to come.

Paige’s Music opened its third specialty shop in 2008: the Indy Flute Shop. Like our other specialty shops, The Indy Flute Shop helps the most discerning musicians in a new category: flautists. (single shot of Erin shouting “flautists” while double fisting flutes?)

Following a financial crisis related to the mortgage industry, 2008 brought us what is now known as the “Great Recession”. This led a number famous Music, RV, and Auto manufacturers to close. Amidst this crisis–Barack Obama’s historic presidential run ends with him becoming the nation’s first African-American President.

In 2009, NBC airs the first episode of Parks and Recreation, taking place in the fictional town Pawnee, Indiana. While the debate of “Parks and Rec vs. The Office” rages on, one thing that’s for certain is the citizens of Pawnee can rely on Paige’s Music for all their Band and Orchestra needs!

In 2012, the United States hosted its first Formula 1 United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas.

In 2013, Paulson & Co. acquires The Steinway Piano Company and therefore Conn-Selmer.

In 2015 and 2019- The United States Women’s National Soccer Team won back-to-back FIFA Women’s World Cups.

Eastman Music Company acquires Haynes Flutes in 2004—S.E. Shires in 2012—and makes a major investment in Backun (Buh-koon) Musical Services in 2017.

Like much of the world, Paige’s Music was hit hard by the Coronavirus Pandemic of 2020. Through a commitment to our values, our hard-working and thoughtful employees were able to help educators, students, and parents navigate the music education impact of the pandemic. We were fortunate to be a model company and have offered advice and recommendations in an effort to help our compatriots come out of the pandemic stronger than ever before.

So there you have it, 150 years in the books! Paige’s of History has been a look into our company’s journey and the world around us.

Our first 150 years have been full of success and challenges, and we look forward to serving music educators and students for the next 150 years.

Thank you so much for joining us! We wouldn’t be Paige’s Music without you!

BRAVO!!! Loved the Paige's History series! Great job - other than using the Cavaliers as your drum corps example rather than Phantom Regiment ;-) Thanks to everyone who put it together. We are very honored to have been a small part of it. Here's to the next 150 years! Dave and Tama Poncar
