Limited Edition Alert! – The Yamaha Xeno “Kangakki” Trumpet

Unveiled at the NAMM show just several weeks ago, the limited edition Yamaha Xeno “Kangakki” has arrived at Paige’s Music. Even more exciting is that there are only 100 of these trumpets available in the United States!

Based on the acclaimed YTR-8335IIS Xeno, the Kangakki is truly one-of-a-kind with gold plated accents on the valve caps, valve buttons, black mother-of-pearl finger buttons, and a 16C4 mouthpiece with gold plated rim and cup. Finally, the “Kangakki” bell engraving adds one final touch that symbolizes “the highest quality of instruments for musicians of any level”.

Instrument Features:

  • A new bell design contributes to optimum resistance for a powerful tonal core and accurate slotting. The new design also enhances playability in the upper register.
  • Thinner valve casing and pistons, as well as the modified angle of the branch tube (knuckle) result in improved response and provide the performer with an ideal blowing resistance.
  • The button on the 1st slide serves to fine-tune the blowing resistance for optimum control.
  • The height of the main slide water key gutter has been increased for optimum resistance, and the ends of the water key spring have been curled for improved response.

ISSMA State Solo and Ensemble is this weekend at North Central High School in Indianapolis. Here are some tips to prepare for everything you need to consider beyond your music performance!

1. Be There Early

I am quite sure your director and private instructor has told you to be early for rehearsals, concerts, and etc. You definitely want to be early when it comes to Solo and Ensemble. You never know what could happen—the weather might be terrible and it may take twice as long as you planned, the performance order may change, a performance room might change, you might have issues with your instrument…anything can and probably will happen! Being early doesn’t fix these problems, but if definitely gives you the chance to get in the right headspace and deal with any problems effectively.

Music Students Score Higher On SAT

The College Entrance Examination Board found that students involved in public school music programs scored 107 points higher on the SAT’s than students with no participation.

A study at the University of California at Irvine demonstrated that young kids who participated in music instruction showed dramatic enhancements in abstract reasoning skills. In fact, researchers have found neural firing patterns that suggest that music may hold the key to higher brain function.
